The California Museum of
Ancient Art

"Museums and libraries have been the crowning glories of all the great cities of the world. If Los Angeles is to achieve its destiny as the metropolis of the 21st Century, it must have art from the 3rd and 2nd millennia B.C.. History did not begin with ancient Greece. Los Angeles museums presently cover only half of recorded history. The California Museum of Ancient Art is a giant step toward telling the rest of our story."
--Dr. Leonard Lesko
Wilbour Professor of Egyptology and Chairman, Department of Egyptology, Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island

A museum with a mission:

The California Museum of Ancient Art (CMAA) was established to gather the first significant collection of ancient art from Egypt, Mesopotamia and the Holy Land in the western United States. The collection will be a focus for people in Southern California, giving them access for the first time to the roots of Western Civilization.
